The special instructor who teaches our students the art of tea ceremony, Mr. Nakasone, is from the Mushakōji Senke school and is a direct descendant of Sen no Rikyū.
On this day, the sixth graders learned valuable lessons about Japanese culture, including the story behind the chrysanthemum flowers displayed in the tea room and the tradition of the Chōyō Festival. They then enjoyed a charming pink chrysanthemum-shaped wagashi along with a bowl of matcha they whisked themselves.

茶道を教えて下さっている特別講師の仲宗根先生は、武者小路千家家元で千利休の曾孫です。この日、6年生は、茶室に飾ってある菊の花の話や、重陽の節句についてなど、日本文化に関する貴重なお話を教えて頂き、桃色の可愛らしい菊の花を形どった和菓子と自分たちで点てた抹茶を頂きました。
